Back to School Night at TKG Academy’s High School, September 2019
When you are in your teens, having your parents tell stories about the time you were 3 or 4 years old can be a bit embarrassing. But it turned out to be a funny, heart-warming experience as an ice-breaker during our recent High School’s Back to School night. Wide smiles spread on everyone’s faces hearing about our beloved children who were once struggling to learn to ride their bike. Now they are all towering above our heads, talking about college and what they want to do with their lives.
The classroom was filled with parents and family members when each student took a turn to present the courses they currently take. They prepared powerpoint presentations to accompany their demonstration. Though shy and hesitant to step forward at first, they all displayed much confidence and eloquence. From their accomplishments so far it was clear, this school year is off to a great start! The volume and variety of classes is very impressive as well. They’ve learned so much in such a short time and were able to summarize and deliver a concise and informative presentation. They showed competency, clarity, and impressive results.
After a few important announcements, the next – and last – item for the evening was a Jeopardy Game, loaded with various point-level questions the students selected from their recent learning in an array of subjects. Even the parents were stomped on some, but a jolly, playful mood prevailed.
Our high school students are now the leaders in our school. Taking much responsibility and an active role in guiding the younger ones. They are being looked-up-to, not only due to their height, but due to the love and care they show them.
