Middle School & High School Literature class students make connections between Bhagavad-Gita and Oliver Twist. As part of their Literature Study Unit in the morning Language Arts class, taught by Mother Mani Manjari (Mrs. Melissa Flores), students analyzed the high school classic, Oliver Twist, connecting it with the sacred text, the Bhagavad Gita. Students were expected to write an essay, connecting a chosen concept and event in Oliver Twist with a Bhagavad Gita verse. They were to include Srila Prabhupada’s commentary and their own personal commentary, explaining how to view the novel through the eyes of sastra. This synthesis of Scripture and Literature is the basis for our Language Arts study in all grades. How lucky these kids are!
